Iran’s Next Hossein Rezazadeh?

A 16-year-old weightlifting phenom is turning heads as he chases an Olympic dream. On August 20, Alireza Kazeminejad lifted his way to the gold medal at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. Alireza grew up idolizing Iranian weightlifting legend Hossein Rezazadeh and looks primed to fill those hefty shoes. Iran’s elite weightlifters often become iconic sources of national pride. A giant among boys, Alireza lifted a jaw-dropping combined lift of 351 kilograms to secure the gold. That’s 772 pounds!
